It is responsible for supplying 1.5 million inhabitants, equipped with the most advanced treatment technologies, and has an installed capacity to produce 400,000 cubic meters of water per day.<\/p>\n<p>It has two sources of water in the Crestuma-Lever dam reservoir: a subaluvial one consisting of 3 catchment wells and another surface water source.<\/p>\n<p>The water treatment line includes the following subsequent stages:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Filtration using pressurized filters to remove suspended solids<\/li>\n<li>pH correction to optimize the two subsequent stages<\/li>\n<li>Pre-oxidation stage with ozone<\/li>\n<li>Powdered activated carbon dosage if necessary<\/li>\n<li>Coagulation- flocculation to remove small suspended particles<\/li>\n<li>Air flotation and filtration onto anthracite in a same unit<\/li>\n<li>Final disinfection, which guarantees microbiological quality all the way to the end consumer.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>The sludge resulting from the process is dewatered by thickening and centrifuging. As a result of a pioneering innovation, the sludge is incorporated as a raw material for the ceramic materials industry.<\/p>\n<p>As a benchmark technological facility, the Lever WTP is very popular for technical visits by universities and schools in the region.<\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #0aa7ff;\"><span style=\"color: #000000;\"><span class=\"ui-provider a b c d e f g h i j k l m n o p q r s t u v w x y z ab ac ae af ag ah ai aj ak\" dir=\"ltr\"><a href=\"http:\/\/www.ioa-ea3g.org\/ea3g2024\/etar-serzedo-2-1\/\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignright wp-image-3265 size-medium\" src=\"http:\/\/www.ioa-ea3g.org\/ea3g2024\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/10\/etar-serzedo-2-1-300x193.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"300\" height=\"193\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.ioa-ea3g.org\/congress\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/10\/etar-serzedo-2-1-300x193.jpg 300w, https:\/\/www.ioa-ea3g.org\/congress\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/10\/etar-serzedo-2-1.jpg 700w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 300px) 100vw, 300px\" \/><\/a>The <\/span><\/span><\/span><strong><span style=\"color: #0aa7ff;\"><span style=\"color: #000000;\"><span class=\"ui-provider a b c d e f g h i j k l m n o p q r s t u v w x y z ab ac ae af ag ah ai aj ak\" dir=\"ltr\">Serzedo Wastewater Treatment Plant <\/span><\/span><\/span><\/strong><span style=\"color: #0aa7ff;\"><span style=\"color: #000000;\"><span class=\"ui-provider a b c d e f g h i j k l m n o p q r s t u v w x y z ab ac ae af ag ah ai aj ak\" dir=\"ltr\">belongs to the company \u00c1guas do Noroeste SA. It was designed to serve around 97 000 equivalent inhabitants and treat an average daily flow of 1 772 m<sup>3<\/sup>\/d of effluent. The treatment system carried out at this WWTP aims to ensure the final quality of the treated effluent for discharge into the River Vizela, as well as its reuse as service water.<\/span><\/span><\/span><\/p>\n<p>The wastewater treatment includes the following stages:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Preliminary treatment, aimed at removing large and small solids through screening and sieves and removing sand, oil and grease, carried out by a desander\/degreaser;<\/li>\n<li>Neutralisation tank for any pH corrections;<\/li>\n<li>Biological treatment carried out using an activated sludge system, which removes organic compounds and nutrients from the wastewater;<\/li>\n<li>Tertiary treatment with the aim of removing colour from the effluent consists of two stages (line 1 and 2) of flotation\/ozonation;<\/li>\n<li>Automatic mechanical cleaning filter and a compact UV disinfection system have been installed to guarantee the right level of disinfection for reuse.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>Some of the treated water is used as service water, for example for washing equipment and watering green spaces.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>\u00a0<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignleft wp-image-938\" src=\"http:\/\/www.ioa-ea3g.org\/congress\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/05\/blue-bus-icon-2-150x150.png\" alt=\"\" width=\"75\" height=\"75\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.ioa-ea3g.org\/congress\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/05\/blue-bus-icon-2-150x150.png 150w, https:\/\/www.ioa-ea3g.org\/congress\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/05\/blue-bus-icon-2-300x300.png 300w, https:\/\/www.ioa-ea3g.org\/congress\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/05\/blue-bus-icon-2-768x768.png 768w, https:\/\/www.ioa-ea3g.org\/congress\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/05\/blue-bus-icon-2.png 1024w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 75px) 100vw, 75px\" \/>The tours will depart from and return to the Conference venue.<br \/>Special registration will be required. The fee will include bus transfer and lunch.<br \/>Visitors will have to provide copy of ID card or passport one month prior to visit.
